"Pacific Specific" The Ice-dyed collection inspired by the great Pacific Ocean

"Pacific Specific" The Ice-dyed collection inspired by the great Pacific Ocean

A couple of summers ago my husband and I dragged my 12yr old and 14yr old kids along the West Coast of Vancouver Island. With our backpacks fully loaded we trudged and trekked and climbed the mighty West Coast Trail for 8 days and 7 nights. It was glorious! We are a mountain family so spending that much time on the wild West Coast was a massive adventure.

Designing "Pacific Specific" brought me back to that place. The mighty Pacific Ocean comes in so many forms and colours. Blues, greens, greys and everything in between. Experimenting with the right colour combos was exciting and gave me so much fodder for future collections.

Again this is bamboo french terry and it dyes beautifully! I used Better Blue Green and Dark Green procion MX dyes from Dharma Trading. Consistently good quality dyes!

When deciding what pattern I wanted to make with this colour-way I went with the pattern company Helen's Closet. She is a West Coaster herself and designs such great, cosy and wearable patterns that I new her Elliot Sweater would fit the bill.

I paired it with some bamboo cotton stretch fleece from Core Fabrics that I bought during their Black Friday sale and it matched perfectly.

Happy sewing!

Love hearing about the origins of your designs and colour choices! I also like how you connect them to your living experiences. Nice!
